The Black River & Western Railroad is a non-profit crewed largely by volunteers! Conductors, engineers, and car attendants, amongst many others, are volunteers who provide our guests with memorable experiences because they love what they do. Seasonal Entertainment Staff

Now Hiring for Holidays 2025

Role

Seasonal “Entertainers” work alongside train crews and other staff during seasonal events, such as Christmas and Easter trains. Entertainers’ primary goal is to provide guests with a pleasant and engaging experience during their visit. Entertainers report to the President or their designee. This job begins on Saturday, November 22, 2025, and will last until Sunday, December 28, 2025.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Report for duty promptly at the designated location, date, and time.
  • Wear appropriate attire as directed (festive clothes encouraged).
  • Become familiar with the current train or event being operated, so you can answer questions and offer basic guidance to guests.
  • In general, present a bubbly, warm, and fun persona to our guests to ensure they feel the holiday spirit.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must have reliable transportation to Ringoes and Flemington, NJ.
  • Must have weekend availability.
  • Must be comfortable walking and riding on board a moving train.
  • Christmas service only:
    • Lead a designated storybook aloud to a large group of guests on board a moving train in a warm and engaging manner.
    • Lead a sing-along of one or two familiar Christmas songs (such as “Jingle Bells”) on board a moving train.
    • Assist guests in posing for group photos with Santa inside Ringoes Station. This includes taking photos with a provided tablet computer device (such as an iPad).
