Find your passion at Black River & Western Railroad

Interested in fixing track, restoring coaches, or working on train crews? How about planning events, selling tickets, or spreading holiday cheer? No matter your unique interest or talent, there’s certainly a role just for you at Black River & Western Railroad!

Dedicated volunteer railroaders staff the Black River & Western Railroad. All have “day jobs” that they leave behind occasionally to do their part to keep things running! No matter when you can commit to working, you have a place at BR&W. Whether once a year or once a month, we would love your assistance. We even have options to get the entire family involved!

Several volunteers have even used their experience at BR&W to secure full-time transportation careers at companies such as NJ TRANSIT, Conrail, PATCO, and more. Volunteering with us will give your resume the boost it needs to be noticed, and the networking connections you make will last a lifetime.

Ready to get started? All volunteers are members of the Black River Railroad Historical Trust. Click the “Reach out to learn more” button to contact Ryan Mack, our Vice President of Membership. Introduce yourself and let Ryan know about your interests. You’ll hear from us soon to discuss your new role!
