What To Expect

Join us on June 22 for Cinder's first big adventure! Ride to Bowne Station where she'll meet with Doctor Dave to learn all about the moths, beetles, fireflies and other bugs that spring to life in New Jersey when the weather gets warm.

David Grossmueller, Ph.D, a professional zoologist specializing in insects, will talk with guests about all the tiny wonders that bring life to our beautiful garden state and the roll they play in our delicate ecosystem. Ticketed guests who bring their plush Cinder with them to the event will receive a new tag to add to her collar for free!

Allow about 90 minutes for your visit.

Your train ticket includes a round-trip train ride between Ringoes and Bowne Station, and an educational presentation at Bowne Station! Guests with a plush Cinder pup will also receive a complimentary tag to add to her collar!

About The Story

Inspiration for Cinder's story comes from a long history of railroad dogs, going back to Owney, a famous dog who traveled Railway Post Office cars all over the United States, and is now memorialized at the National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C! Black River & Western was once home to a beloved German Shepard, "Rintzy," who rode our freight trains as they meandered through Hunterdon County.

Nicole Talucci, one of our own volunteers, conceived the idea of Cinder, an adventurous pooch who travels the world with her new friends - learning about new places and experiencing all the world has to offer. Nicole wrote and illustrated the story, "Cinder: Tales of a Railyard Pup", which is now available for purchase in the BR&W Store at Ringoes Station!
